The population of these massive striped predators was 100,000 in early 1900s.But now the population of the tigers is only a handfull of 3200.This was the result of poaching of the tigers in various parts of the world.A recent study says that the amount of tigers can be made thrice if these feline hunters are maintained in a large scale ecosystem.Tigers need a very vast area for their hunting and also for finding mates.By maintaining a large ecosystem, the number of tigers can be rapidly increased. Not only the tigers will be preserved by doing so,but many species which live under tiger's umbrella can be protected. The study says that tigers can repopulate soon and there are many incidents in the history related to the present situation.During civil war in Nepal, there was a decline in the tiger population. But the tigers from india repopulated the region. And during the mid 1900's the tigers were wiped out from Russia. But the tigers from China repopulated the region.Hence the feline predators can be preserved by providing a large ecosystem for them.
